Mind Activation
When you raise your hand to wave hello to a friend or lift your knee to take another step on the Stairmaster, you control these actions. Other body functions — like heart rate, skin temperature, and blood pressure — are controlled involuntarily by your nervous system. You don’t think about making your heart beat faster. It just happens in response to your environment, like when you’re nervous, excited, or exercising.
One technique can help you gain more control over these normally involuntary functions. It’s called biofeedback, and the therapy is used to help prevent or treat conditions, including migraine headaches, chronic pain, incontinence, and high blood pressure.
The idea behind biofeedback is that, by harnessing the power of your mind and becoming aware of what’s going on inside your body, you can gain more control over your health.
During a session I assist you with the reprogramming of your limiting beliefs stored in your subconscious – and teach you the corresponding feelings you hesitate to feel using a combination of the following biofeedback techniques.
- Biofeedback machine
- Kinesiology
- Craniosacral Therapy
- Myofascial Release
What can I expect from a mind activation session?
The treatment session begins with a consultation to identify troubled areas.
Gentle pressure techniques are used to assess the existence of possible disruptions and/or restrictions in your fascial system. Light to medium touch and fascial release may help your muscles and organs naturally relieve stress, which improves function.
Some patients often report feeling a sense of deep relaxation.
Is Mind Activation Therapy for everyone?
It can benefit almost everyone. With a few conditions, however, this therapy may not be appropriate and you’ll need to talk with your practitioner and physician.
Your session needs to wait if you have experienced any of the following and have NOT been released for treatment by your physician:
- Recent concussion.
- Cerebral swelling.
- Structural defects in the cerebellum such as Arnold-Chiari malformation.
- Brain aneurysm.
- Traumatic brain injury.
- Blood clots.
- Any disorder that causes instability of cerebral fluid pressure, flow or build-up.
Is Mind Activation therapy covered by the medical aid?
This therapy is not covered by the medical aid. A payment is required prior to treatment.
